Fabflix is the course project for CS122b (Project in Databases and Web Applications) at UC Irvine. Fabflix is a movie aggregation site, where users can search up information about movies and the actors present in them. At it's core, it's a movie search engine, but there's a lot of intricacies under the hood and with the decisions we made.
- Developed a full stack film catalog site with 1000s of films, featuring pagination and full-text search
- Utilized a custom ETL pipeline to ingest 50,000+ rows of badly-formatted XML in under 2 seconds
- A/B tested with JMeter to compare MySQL & MongoDB, choosing MySQL for faster throughput
- Managed SQL Injection attacks through the use of sanitization schemes (PreparedStatements)
